Michele Condurro, son of Salvatore, perfected this family art and opened his first pizzeria in 1906.
In 1930, the pizzeria moved to it's current location in Via Cesare Sersale 1, Naples - defined by many food experts and journalists as "The sacred temple of pizza", and for years has been a 'pilgrimage' destination for pizza lovers the world over.
Since then, five generations of master pizza makers continue Michele's traditional methods of pizza making, the secret of their lasting success being the use of natural ingredients and the ancient and proven method of dough leavening.
The iconic Naples restaurant took a starring role in the 2010 movie "Eat Pray Love" starring everyone's favourite actress, the amazing and adorable Julia Roberts
Other VIP guests over the years have included Maradona, Forest Whitaker and Jude Law.
Now we too can fall in love as Pizzeria Da Michele has opened an outlet just this Friday in the magnificent Balluta Buildings in Balluta Bay, St Julians Malta.
All of the ingredients are delivered directly from Italy several times a week to ensure the authenticity, quality and freshness.
The menu is mouth wateringly delicious, with pizza prices starting at just 9 euros, everything from their legendary Pizza Margherita to what would be my favourite, Mortadella and Pistacchio - yum!
