At last Easyjet has reinstated their flights from Newcastle to Malta, and more seats have gone on sale today!

This is brilliant news as I've carried out a comparison today against Jet2, who currently operate the route, and they are so much cheaper - especially for a flight only!

🗓️ EasyJet Flight Schedule: Newcastle to Malta

The first flight commences on the 30th of March 2026,

  • Flight Days: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday

The most preferable flight times are on a Wednesday and Saturday, as the flight departs early morning arriving into Malta around midday. This is the perfect schedule if you are planning to hop across to Gozo first, or if staying in Malta, as it means you will be able to hit the ground running and check-in straight away to your hotel.

Similarly for those days on the return, it departs Malta at lunchtime meaning you can have a leisurely breakfast and then head straight for the airport.

  • Operating season: Spring through Autumn (March to October)

Whether you're escaping for a romantic weekend in Valletta or a full-family retreat to Gozo’s turquoise waters, these new flights make it easier than ever to plan your dream Malta holiday leaving right from your door step!

Newcastle International Airport itself is celebrating a rich legacy. On July 26, 2025, the airport turned 90!

Situated six miles north of Newcastle, Woolsington Aerodrome (as it was originally known) was officially opened on July 26, 1935. Fast forward to 2025, and Newcastle International Airport is the 11th busiest in the UK, contributing more than £1 billion every year to the North East economy. Around 5.2 million passengers passed through the airport last year, and it connected the North East region to 80 destinations around the globe, while employing more than 3,200 people.

The year-long birthday celebration is already in motion:

  • You will find a vibrant terminal exhibition tracing the airport’s journey from its humble 1935 beginnings to a key international gateway. This super exhibition features retro cabin crew uniforms, artefacts from the original runway, and a commemorative plaque starring Geordie favourites Ant and Dec!

  • The exhibition will also travel across the region, popping up at the Discovery Museum, Sunderland Museum & Gardens, and The Word in South Shields.

🌞 In case you need any convincing......Why Malta?

Malta’s charm lies in its contrasts—ancient temples meet trendy pavement cafés, hidden beaches and coves lead to bustling harbours, and its compact size means adventure is always within reach. Whether you're exploring Mdina’s cobbled streets or diving into the Blue Lagoon, a holiday in Malta promises cultural depth with coastal bliss.

With EasyJet’s direct flights from Newcastle, your next Mediterranean escape is only hours away. The hardest part? Deciding which island to visit first.
